Death & Homicide Investigation Training- Nashua Police Dept.  Proceeds benefit a NPD officer recently diagnosed with lymphoma.

As Chiefs of Police, I am sure that you appreciate the importance of providing an adequate training budget for law enforcement professionals, including Animal Control Officers.  In this regard, I am emailing you today to make you aware of the New England Animal Control/ Humane Academy (NEACHA), which provides quality, cost-effective, in-depth training in areas related to Animal Control Professionals in New England.

The NEACHA program was developed to provide useful, timely, and quality education in an atmosphere that allows the participant to share and renew information as well as learn. There are countless opportunities for those attending to discuss problems, learn from veterans, and develop professional contacts. Many people feel that this is the feature that makes the Academy so valuable.

The Animal Control Profession is unique because it deals with not only the many problems of animals but also that of humans in today’s complex society. Some of the examples of topics which have been covered in the past are: rabies, working with computers, animal/child abuse, health issues (human and animal), public relations, investigations, and many more. Nationally known instructors from around the country have presented.

Through an arrangement with the Applied Animal Science program at the Thompson School of the University of New Hampshire, facilities, classrooms, dining halls, dormitories, and transportation are made available at a reasonable rate. With these resources, a large attendance can be accommodated.

The next NEACHA training will be at UNH July 18-22, 2011.  As budget season is fast approaching, please make provisions in your budget for this opportunity.  Also, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 382-3679.  Thank you for your consideration.

For more information about the upcoming training, please  visit our web site:

New England Animal Control/Humane Academy

Sincerely,
Sheila Johannesen

Director, NEACHA

My name is Joseph M. Doyle Sr., I am the Deputy Training Coordinator for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Programs here at New Mexico Tech. We offer a number of Programs funded completely by DHS. This means of course the programs are completely paid for the students that attend the courses.

Our two Resident Courses: 1. "Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings" (IRTB) and 2."Prevention and Response to Suicide Bombings Incidents" (PRSBI) are offered here in New Mexico. The funding for these courses includes the airfare, hotel, per diem, the course and the rental car. Literally everything is paid for but the students salary and/or "backfill".

The IRTB course is 32 hours and is held in Socorro, New Mexico and the PRSBI is 40 hours and is held in Playas, New Mexico. These are train the trainer courses and we hope and expect the students to return to their communities and share what they have learned. All instructional materials (Participants Manuals, Pre & Post Test, Certificates) are provided by New Mexico Tech at no charge.

We offer Performance level courses in IRTB and PRSBI which are four hours long and we have an eight hour Performance level course "Initial Law Enforcement Response to Suicide Bombing Attacks" (ILERSBA) . All are taught by our Instructors at your location. What you are asked to provide is 50 students per class and a location to hold the class.

Members of your Association can attend these NMT/DHS courses, and it's free. You can go on line at http://respond.emrtc.nmt.edu and see all the information I have stated above and even obtain the one page application and how to proceed with the process of attending. Or you can call Jim Lehner at (575) 835-5917 or jlehner@emrtc.nmt.edu for the resident courses or Richard Campbell (575) 835-5054 or rcampbell@emrtc.nmt.edu for the Performance level courses.  This training is truly current, timely and is mandated in most State's for it's WMD training information.
